Level 3 Water Treatment Technician – Meet the Team
August 23, 2024The Watertrain team continues to grow as we welcome our new Learning Development Coach, Parminder Mann.
“I have many years’ worth of experience in the water industry, and I’ve always wanted to be involved in the training and education side of things. I have a massive passion for education and am always looking at ways to help others by passing on my own knowledge and experience. Watertrain is a company that I’ve been following for a while, and I was impressed by the things that I’d read and seen. It seemed like a no brainer for me to apply for the role when it came up as I’ve wanted to do this for many years and the timing seemed right.
I have caseloads of learners that are doing apprenticeships within the water industry and that are already working for water companies or contractors. My role is to educate, coach and guide them through every aspect of completing their qualification, in person in a classroom, on site for practical assessments and online for some sessions, reviews and meetings. There is some travelling involved in my role when I visit learners either on site or at one of their company HQ’s. We also do ad-hoc training for water companies and their contractors that isn’t part of a formal qualification.
I have worked in various roles in the water industry for 4 different companies. I started out as a Regs Inspector for Thames then I joined the Victorian Mains Replacement Programme as a Network Service Technician. I then worked for a contractor on behalf of Thames as a Team Leader for Water Efficiency in Central London. I worked for South Staffs Water in the Metering Department and, most recently, I worked for Severn Trent Water as a Network Service Technician. In between those roles, I had a children’s football coaching franchise for 10 years which I purchased just before my first daughter was born and I spent a few years simultaneously working for their Head Office, initially as the Sales Manager and then as Head of Training and Support for other franchisees.
I’ve been really impressed with the team ethic and camaraderie so far at Watertrain and I can already tell that I’m going to love working here. Doing a role like this, where you get paid to help people gain their qualifications is incredibly rewarding and I feel fortunate to be in this position.”
