December 2, 2024
Why are employers choosing apprenticeships for workforce development?
January 7, 2025Watertrain has become the first training provider to have learners complete the Level 4 Asset Manager Apprenticeship Standard, with our cohort from Thames Water completing the apprenticeship with a 100% achievement rate.
This achievement rate reflects the combined efforts of our team, learners and Thames Water, and sets an outstanding standard as the very first learners to complete the apprenticeship programme. In addition to this achievement rate, many of our learners achieved a Distinction grade for their apprenticeship.

One of our learners from Thames Water, Annette Amanzi, shared feedback about her apprenticeship experience:
How has the apprenticeship benefited you and improved your ability to perform your role?
“I have learnt the principals of asset management and why it’s important. The course modules had relevant case studies that applied to the company and made it easier to understand each topic. The apprenticeship has given me a better understanding of risk management within my role, how to apply risk factors to assets and ensure the lifecycle delivery of these assets, from acquisition through to decommissioning.”
How well did Watertrain support you throughout your apprenticeship?
“Watertrain have been consistent with communicating the next steps within the programme. Jon was attentive to each question and provided support during our assignments and preparing for the End Point Assessment.”
Would you recommend this apprenticeship?
“Yes, the apprenticeship is a good way to learn and develop a deeper knowledge of asset management. The case studies and assignments make it practical for the learner to find relevant examples tailored to the role to help with achieving a pass grade for the programme.”
Keri Davies, Managing Director at Watertrain, added:
“We are extremely proud to be the first training provider to have learners complete the Level 4 Asset Management Apprenticeship Standard. It has been a pleasure to see what these Thames Water learners have accomplished. 100% of learners achieved, many with obtaining a Distinction – well done on these fantastic results!”
The Level 4 Asset Manager Apprenticeship Standard is an employer-developed programme, which ensures that it meets the needs of organisations in multiple sectors and those working in asset management roles. Organisations involved in its development include The Institute of Asset Management (IAM), Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, Environment Agency, National Grid and Network Rail.
Watertrain is currently the only training provider delivering the Level 4 Asset Manager Apprenticeship Standard outside of a university setting, and as the predominant provider of high-quality technical training, apprenticeships and qualifications to the water sector, we are well-placed to provide this specialist provision.
