Level 2 extended Diploma in Operating Process Plant (Waste Water Treatment)

This qualification pairs with the Waste Water Operations knowledge pathway To achieve the full diploma, the learner must complete thirteen units, including eight mandatory units, plus unit from Option Group 1, and four units from Option Group 2 Mandatory:

  • Maintain a safe working environment working with treatment processes
  • Develop productive working relationships
  • Handle and store sludge for processing
  • Carry out on-site sampling and testing to maintain the quality of treatment processes and final product
  • Maintain the quality of waste water preliminary treatment processes
  • Maintain the quality of waste water preliminary treatment processes: sedimentation
  • Maintain the quality of treatment processes: odour management and control
  • Option Group 1 – 1unit must be taken from this group

  • Receive, store and handle processing chemicals, reagents and other consumables
  • Carry out first-line maintenance on processing plant and equipment
  • Option Group 2 – 4 units must be taken from this group

  • Maintain the quality of waste water treatment processes: biological percolating filters
  • Maintain the quality of waste water treatment processes: aerated biological filters
  • Maintain the quality of waste water treatment processes: activated sludge
  • Maintain the quality waste water treatment processes: rotating biological contractors (RBCs)
  • Maintain the quality of waste water treatment processes : UV disinfection
  • Maintain the quality of waste water treatment processes: biological nutrient removal
