Level 2 Extended Diploma in Operating Process Plant (Ground Water Treatment)

This qualification pairs with the water operations knowledge pathway To achieve the full extended diploma, the learner must complete nine, including six mandatory units, plus one option unit from Option Group 1, and two units from Option Group 2. Mandatory:

  • Maintain a safe working environment working with treatment processes
  • Develop productive working relationships
  • Receive, store and handle processing chemicals, reagents and other consumables
  • Carry out on-site sampling and testing to maintain the quality of treatment processes and final product
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment proceses: abstraction, raw water management and pre-treatement
  • Maintain the quality of water treamtnet processes: disinfection Option Group 1 – 1 unit must be taken from this group
  • Handle and store sludge for processing
  • Carry out first-line maintenance on processing plant and equipment Option Group 2 – 2 units must be taken form this group
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment processes: chemical dosing and control
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment processes: filtration
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment: ozone
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment: membranes
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment: selective ion exchange
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment: adsorption
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment: controlling infestation
  • Maintain the quality of water treatment processes: control of supply to distribution
  • Maintain the quality of treatment processes: UV disinfection
