The CABWI Level 2 Certificate in Leakage Detection is a competency based qualification that requires learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by leakage technicians who detect leakage on the water supply network.

This qualification covers the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to be able to:

  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety in the water industry
  • Assess the configuration of the metered area on the water supply network
  • Trace the route of water pipes and locate surface fittings
  • Determine the location of water loss

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. The majority of evidence collected for this qualification must be generated from real work activities. Therefore, learners must be working in the water industry undertaking operational activities on a regular basis.

Assessment takes place within the workplace.

Level 2 Certificate in Network Construction Operations – Service Layer

The CABWI Level 2 Certificate in Network Construction Operations – Service Layer is a competency based qualification that requires learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by service layers who install water services on the distribution network.

This qualification covers the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to be able to:

  • Operate powered tools and equipment for routine and predictable requirements on utilities network construction
  • Joint materials by mechanical means on water network construction
  • Install water services up to 50mm nominal bore or 63mm polyethylene

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. The majority of evidence collected for this qualification must be generated from real work activities. Therefore, learners must be working in the water industry undertaking service laying activities on a regular basis.

Assessment takes place within the workplace.

Level 2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations – Repair and Maintenance

The CABWI Level 2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations – Repair and Maintenance is a competency based qualification that requires learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by main layers who install water mains on the distribution network.

This qualification covers the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to be able to:

  • Create an efficient and effective environment in utilities network construction
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment in water network construction
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships in utilities network construction
  • Install equipment for safe working on site for utilities network construction
  • Locate and avoid supply apparatus for utilities network construction
  • Excavate and maintain holes and trenches for utilities network construction
  • Operate powered tools and equipment for routine and predictable requirements on utilities network construction
  • Joint materials by electrofusion processes on utilities network construction
  • Joint materials by butt fusion processes on utilities network construction, up to 180mm diameter
  • Joint materials by mechanical means on water network construction
  • Install water mains up to 150mm nominal bore or 180mm polyethylene
