Watertrain Apprentice of the Year Award 2026
March 3, 2026At Watertrain, we believe strong partnerships are at the heart of successful apprenticeships. Working closely with employers across the water and wastewater sector allows us to deliver training that is relevant, collaborative and aligned to real operational needs.
We’re proud to have supported ABP Beef in developing their apprentice in the South West. Their experience highlights how sector knowledge, structured delivery and employer collaboration can create meaningful development opportunities that go beyond technical learning.
What made you decide to work with Watertrain?
“We chose Watertrain to support one of our apprentices in the South West and were immediately impressed by their sector knowledge and collaborative approach. The opportunity for our apprentice to learn alongside South West Water, while also sharing insights into ABP and our business, made Watertrain a great fit.”
How did we handle any challenges or unexpected changes?
“There haven’t been any major challenges. The programme has been well managed, with clear communication and a smooth delivery throughout.”
Can you share any success stories or learner feedback?
“Our apprentice has had a really positive experience and has developed not only his technical knowledge, but also his confidence and personal skills. His passion for wastewater has been recognised both locally and across the wider business, which has been fantastic to see.”
What would you say is Watertrain’s greatest strength or skill?
“Watertrain’s greatest strength is their deep industry expertise combined with a strong focus on learner development. They provide high-quality, engaging training that supports apprentices to grow professionally and personally.”
This case study reflects the impact that well-designed apprenticeships can have — not only strengthening technical capability, but also building confidence, engagement and long-term professional growth.
If you’re looking to develop talent within your organisation and partner with a training provider that understands the operational realities of the water industry, we’d welcome a conversation.
