End Point Assessment (EPA)

End Point Assessment is the final stage of an apprenticeship. Undertaken by an independent body, an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), it is an assessment of whether an apprentice has developed the skills, knowledge and behaviours detailed in the apprenticeship standard.

EPA Gateway

Before starting EPA, an apprentice must meet the gateway requirements.

These are:

  • The employer must be content that the apprentice is working at or above the occupational standard
  • The apprentice must complete training towards English and maths qualifications in line with the apprenticeship funding rules
  • Apprentices must have compiled and submitted a portfolio of evidence, which will underpin the interview
