Frameworks

A framework is a collection of qualifications that are required for the full completion of an apprenticeship. These frameworks include a Knowledge qualification and a Competency qualification (NVQ). At Levels 2 and 3 there is also a requirement for Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Employment Rights and Responsibilities. At Level 4, qualifications related to the sector are required.

The qualifications forming part of these Frameworks are based on the National Occupational Standards and the Frameworks are then governed by The Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for England (SASE) as issued by the Department for Education.

To ensure that Frameworks are appropriate for any given industry or commercial sector they are approved and registered for funding by the relevant Sector Skills Councils. In Water, that is Energy and Utility Skills. Since the advent of the new apprenticeship Standards no new Frameworks can now be registered.

The Water Industry framework details the many options for the knowledge and competency qualifications that are available. Watertrain would work with the client to understand the operational role and the development outcomes required before recommending the most suitable apprenticeship programme.
